Out on my ride today in beautiful Oxnard I ran into US Time Trial Champion Tom Zirbel and the Optum Kelly Benefits Pro Cycling team. Got to finish my final 10 miles with them and get this picture afterwards!
It's going to be nice getting to California this week and riding outside instead of on the rollers! I hope I remember how! Maybe I'll run into Optimum Kelly Benefits team riding around Ventura!
Growing up only a few hours from Lake Placid NY I've always LOVED the Winter Olympics! A perfect way to spend a good portion of the month of February.
Does anyone have any video of the sprint events? I'm trying to picture it in my head of how it'll play out but so far I'm only picturing this video in my head. I know there are no velodromes in Fairfax or the DC area, at least that I know of. (There was talk of building one but funding fell through) I'm just curious how it's all coordinated and done at the games.
Snow is falling, temperatures are in the single digits in Virginia so I'm inside riding the rollers where is warm and comfortable!

Got in a ride outside today after the temperature warmed up a bit! Riding outside always beats the indoor trainer!!
Very cold morning in Fairfax for my ride! Started at 28 degrees and finished at 34! Have to get those base miles in so gotta get out there and freeze!!
I'm going to throw this suggestion out and I'm not sure how it'd work with timing but how about the Criterium being raced under the lights or later in the day? I know the sun goes down a lot later in the summer around 8:30 pm but even as you see in the video, night time races are pretty awesome!! Just a thought! There would be a small need to additional lighting on corners.
Do we know the distance for the time trial? Or a rough idea??
