Any news on the count of participants who have sent in their entry fee for each event (8-ball, 9-ball & 14.1) so far?

Craig Luecke Mike Grosso - the WPFG Federation doesn't typically post that sort of info this far out. Everyone is excited, but we still have 2 months to go. Help us promote your event to get the numbers to what would make it amazing! 8 years ago

Eric Townsend.... you have misunderstood the "Joe Shmoe" comment and you are also misunderstanding all the comments of wanting to keep the Billiard event the same as it always has been.

It seems like you have to get the last word in, the problem is, you have been the one that is negative by making statements such as "rude or ill-behaved", "selfish and bratty"..... You want any competitors who are not attending this year's Games to stop lingering on this site. You just want them to go away even...

Alan Hanafin My main event is tenpin bowling, I was considering pool as an extra event, but as pool is not now an event, that choice has been taken away. have no knowledge of the other forms of pool, so not worth entering. Shame 8 years ago

Eric S. Townsend Alan, pool remains an event at WPFG. There is talk that it won't be offered at the NEXT games. Fairfax is slated to play 8ball and 9ball events, and I am coordinating it for WPFG. 8 years ago

Eric S. Townsend Alan, we just added straight pool thanks to 2 Lt. FCSO Tony Shibe, 2 Lt. FCPD Mark Kidd, and Breakers GM Shanna Lewis. We will stage 8ball, 9ball, straight pool (a.k.a. 14.1 Continuous). 8 years ago

I see nothing wrong with playing a race to 4 or 5 in a 9-ball or 8-ball tournament. But..... taking out the straight pool (14.1) event is just a slap in the face. Yes, I am a police officer and I am happy that there are these games for our fellow fire & police. I am also a dedicated straight pool player and feel very strongly about that event. To me straight pool is on the top of the list when it comes to pool. Now the billiard event might not even be offered in the next games. It seems like... Show more

Mary Jane Richardson Isn't this supposed to be more about comradery and support of the Games? If you love the game, play what they offer.... 8 years ago

Eric S. Townsend Mary, you are correct. This should be about camaraderie and support of the Games. I'm sure each Games that are staged by WPFG has logistical challenges to navigate. You make the best of the opportunity. 8 years ago

Yes, the young players of the sport do not know of straight pool and only know 8-ball & 9-ball but as long as these games have been going on straight pool has been one of the events. Plus the turn out for the straight pool event has always been good. I've played in the Games in Calgary and there were over 60 players in the straight pool event from all over the world. Why in the world does a event planer just decide to take an event out of the sport for no reason, specially when it is always... Show more

Jon Callahan I think it went south when it was advertised a whole 7 tables available and the cancellation of Str8 pool. I run a lot of local tournaments with 32 to 64 players and I don't think I would ever advertise a minimal amount of tables available. Not... Show more 8 years ago

Eric S. Townsend Mike, there are reasons why straight pool was dropped. Please stop saying "for no reason." You don't know the reasons, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. Please see other threads or call me to discuss. 202-494-4326. I will also share that many... Show more 8 years ago

2017

Well, I see that there is no Pocket Billiards for 2017..... What a shame!

Pocket Billiards

WOW.... I just seen the schedule..... no straight pool..... That's a shame. These are the games that there has always been straight pool. Count me out, good luck to everyone. Hopefully it will be played in another city in years to come.

Paul Northrop I agree with you Mike.. A lot of players I know are opting out for the same reason.. the coordinator doesn't seem to care though. It is absolutely a shame. 9 years ago

Mike Grosso If there is one event that should of be done away with b/c of the # of days that they had for the event. It should of been 9-ball..... Take the "Luck" out of 9-ball and make it call pocket, then 9-ball will get respect..... Thanks Paul for the... Show more 9 years ago

Hello everyone. It is great to see that there are players in our professions like myself that love our sport. I am going to do my best to attend the games in Fairfax. Here is a Link to a 14.1 Instructional video that I had made to help players. I hope that you all will enjoy it.
