Any news on the count of participants who have sent in their entry fee for each event (8-ball, 9-ball & 14.1) so far?

Eric Townsend.... you have misunderstood the "Joe Shmoe" comment and you are also misunderstanding all the comments of wanting to keep the Billiard event the same as it always has been.
It seems like you have to get the last word in, the problem is, you have been the one that is negative by making statements such as "rude or ill-behaved", "selfish and bratty"..... You want any competitors who are not attending this year's Games to stop lingering on this site. You want any competitors who are not attending this year's Games to stop lingering on this site. You just want them to go away even if they have been competitors in past Games. They should have no opinion. Not good. How about taking some action and then writing something like..... I spoke to the board about reinstating the straight pool event and to see if we can get an extra day at the event site....... and they are looking into it.... Maybe that is what a person in your position should look into.
PS: I hope that all the competitors that do go have a wonderful time and I am sure they will. It is a wonderful event.

I see nothing wrong with playing a race to 4 or 5 in a 9-ball or 8-ball tournament. But..... taking out the straight pool (14.1) event is just a slap in the face. Yes, I am a police officer and I am happy that there are these games for our fellow fire & police. I am also a dedicated straight pool player and feel very strongly about that event. To me straight pool is on the top of the list when it comes to pool. Now the billiard event might not even be offered in the next games. It seems like the Billiard event has been thrown the bones of all the other sports that are offered. Has other sports such as golf, bowling, etc. been cut back? I bet not. I as a straight pool player can not attend these games without my favorite event. As it has been stated... the time & cost is too great to not play an event that has always been offered in the past. As for the people in charge of the WPFG, they need to know what the feelings & thoughts of players that attend these games. Reading these comments are a good thing, hopefully the event will improve instead of being done away with. Show more

Yes, the young players of the sport do not know of straight pool and only know 8-ball & 9-ball but as long as these games have been going on straight pool has been one of the events. Plus the turn out for the straight pool event has always been good. I've played in the Games in Calgary and there were over 60 players in the straight pool event from all over the world. Why in the world does a event planer just decide to take an event out of the sport for no reason, specially when it is always...Yes, the young players of the sport do not know of straight pool and only know 8-ball & 9-ball but as long as these games have been going on straight pool has been one of the events. WOW.... I just seen the schedule..... no straight pool..... That's a shame. These are the games that there has always been straight pool. Count me out, good luck to everyone. Hopefully it will be played in another city in years to come.

Hello everyone. It is great to see that there are players in our professions like myself that love our sport. I am going to do my best to attend the games in Fairfax. Here is a Link to a 14.1 Instructional video that I had made to help players. I hope that you all will enjoy it.
