One thing about the bowling venue has always been that bowling events do not get the respect and attention to details that some of the other sports get during the preparation and running of the events. Bowlers have been loyal to the games for years! If you were to look up the history of the participants, you would see that the athletes return year after year.
As for these games the verification of averages was not clear and it was clear that some of the same teams that manipulate the current system played it again and that puts others that are honest about their average at a disadvantage and more in likely not medal. because bowlers that are clearly in the lower category then bowls their true average. The numbers are there, were see it every World Games and it is pointed out every time and no one in the Federations does anything about it.
Anyone that knows bowling know that if you keep a tournament average then if a person bowl over 200 nearly every game, then the next tournament they would carry that average and not a 150 or so. Also bowling is not a secret society, post the names of all of the bowlers, the categories, and the scores as each squad is done. That way if some one want to dispute a result, they can do it right away and not when people are standing on the podium receiving a medal.
2017 is not the time to change the rules. We have 2 years for the Federation to reach out to bowlers that have participated in numerous games and have made numerous complaints in the past. In a few months after the dust and hurt feelings have cleared from these games t would be great if someone would reach out to the bowlers for input and make some rule changes well before the next games.
