Fountainhead is a beautiful, secluded park located in Fairfax Station, VA. The closest main road is Virginia State Route 123. From the athletes village area in Reston, you would take the Fairfax County Parkway south, to the Route 123 (Ox Road), exit. Follow the South exit which is a left turn. In several miles, just after passing the Burke Lake golf course on the left, you'll turn right onto Henderson Road. In about 2 miles, you'll turn left onto Hampton Road, and the park will then be 1.4 miles on your right. Be cautious - both Hampton and Henderson are twisty 2 lane roads. After turning right into the park, you'll first see the archery area on your left. Proceed down the hill to the parking area on the right.

There is a small brick building beyond the parking which houses rustic restrooms. There will also be several portable restrooms located at the lower end of the parking lot. The entrance to the Mtn. Bike course, is just across from the parking. However, the start area will be further down the paved road at the marina. There may be a small snack bar, but when I visited it was not open and even if it is, the selection may be limited.

Photographing will be in mixed sun/shade, to deep shade.
