Are there any photographs of the venues for TCA and advice on transport links? Thanks.

Craig Luecke The transport links should be up next week. As far as venue photos, we will be posting them over the next 2 months.

How is each event scored? 1000 points per event?

Tony Biller Generally each event/discipline is scored on 1000 point basis. An example is the 5k cross country run. A time of 15:00 minutes would be scored 1109.70 points and a time of 23:00 minutes would be scored 375.00 points. Check out the scoring templates posted on the TCA section.

Each competitor is required to start with at least one foot on the lower bar, touch each of the 9 rungs, and then touch at least one foot on the lower bar on the way out of the monkey bars.

Quick question: obstacle course- monkey bars. Can you jump as far as you can and grab a bar maybe swing to the end, or do you have to touch every bar on the way through?

I'm new to the community, are the TCA events standard or do they change? If the events are the same from Games to Games, is there a link to where the events are described? I noted the 100 meter run & swim, mention of pull-ups & an OC. Thanks

How do you recommend training for the obstacle course? any ideas? cheers, Pete.

Tony Biller Go to a track and run 400 meter sprints. Get really good at them. The dummy drag will be 140lb. Drag this 25-50 feet first and then get into your sprint. Your natural athleticism will kick in for the rest. Don't spend time trying to ace the OB course. Overall conditioning is the key. The 400 meter sprints will help with the 5K, 100 meter run, 100 meter swim, pull-ups, and OB course.

If you are over 200 lbs and over 50 years old are you required to go in the over 200 pound class? I would like to compete in the 55 to 59 year old class if possible.

Tony Biller I was advised by the Federation that there will be a 200+ over 50 category. My guess is that could change if there is not but a few entries. We should know for sure a few months out from competition days.

I am having difficulty finding the venue for the T.C.A. please enlighten.

Craig Luecke Within each group is a EVENTS block. Those events is the current schedule for each sport. For TCA, you will see two separate EVENTS because two venus are being used. They are directly next to each other. One is the swimming pool and gym. The other is outdoors. Click on each EVENT and you will have the dates and a Google map. We will have photo sets for every venue uploaded within in the next 2 months so every athlete will have a great visual picture of what they can expect.

Does anyone know where I can get a layout/specifications for the obstacle course? I'm trying to get my PD to set it up as we now have a large outdoor area available for fitness and having our own obstacle course would be nice. Thanks.

Craig Luecke Posting now in the group. Look for it as a separate post.

If you want to be competitive you have a year to get your body fat down to no more than 6-8 percent. If you look at the TCA's best that is where they will be.

Peter Thompson Swedish competitor Mats Norlund is what people should be aiming for. He was very very good in Belfast. Also, the Barcelona airport firemen, some of them small in stature were very good at every event, perfect balance.

Just installed my pull-up bar. Dead hang pull-up are very interesting and they will let you know, that you need to loose a few pounds. Got 10 , then 5 sets of 5.

Craig Luecke Good job Henry! Keep it up!

Absolutely humbled in Belfast 2013 and had a great day up against so many incredibly fit individuals. I plan to make the trip again to Fairfax 2015 in order to try again. Tips to anyone who has not carried out the event before is practice practice practice. Belfast was fantastic, hard to believe it was nearly a year ago.

This message is for Craig Luecke: I will be competing in the Master A group. can you tell me what day that group will be competing? I'm asking because I am interested in competing in golf as well. Thanks.

    Ron Behnke

Ron Thanks brother. I will actually be in Grand Master A as I will turn 50 this year. I did Vancouver and New York and us old guys competed on the first day of the event both times so I'm hoping that is the case this time as well. Registration, as I understand it, is not until October so it sounds like we will know before then so thanks for the info. Ron Behnke

I've entered the European Police and Fire Games in Brussells in July which will be my first TCA. I had a go at the rope climb for the first time too yesterday and only managed a short distance ending up with rope burns on my fingers. I don't have access to ropes normally can anyone suggest training in a normal equipped gym for the rope climbing?

Tamara Sylvan Hi! If you can find a gymnastics gym, then the ropes there are except he same height and thickness of the ones at the games. Even getting some help.from a gymnastics coach will help you on tips. Gymnastics climb those ropes with no feet and make it look easy!
