For many athletes, a trip to our nation’s capital is a once in a lifetime experience. So, we recommend that you do this trip right and hit the major attractions in the region including everything that Prince William & Manassas has to offer!
Make sure to stop by Manassas National Battlefield Park, home to the very first battle of the American Civil War! The 5,000 acre park is an excellent place to learn about a major piece of American history that includes many walkable trails. Escape the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy nature for a few hours! Keeping with the military theme, stop by the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Triangle, Virginia and learn about the entire history of one of our most celebrated branches of our armed forces! This state of the art museum is completely free to visit so take advantage of a great opportunity to learn about the history of the United States Marine Corps!
Prince William & Manassas is home to some tremendous shopping destinations including one of Virginia’s largest outlet mall, Potomac Mills, in Woodbridge. With over 200 shops, it’s a place you could spend the entire day! For a change of pace, visit Downtown Occoquan and experience local shopping at it’s finest. If you’re on the north end of our county then stop by Historic Downtown Manassas, which is home to numerous local shops that offer an eclectic mix of goods.
Of course, everyone has to eat and luckily we have some fantastic restaurants to choose from. Try waterfront dining at Madigan’s Waterfront Restaurant in Occoquan or splurge on an upscale dinner at Malone’s in Historic Downtown Manassas. Of course, you can’t leave town without something sweet so make your way to Cupcake Heaven in Haymarket and indulge in a delicious menu of sweets!
For some after dinner entertainment, head to the state-of-the-art Hylton Performing Arts Center on June 26th at 8 pm to see Rosanne Cash live in concert! Cash will perform songs from her recent three Grammy Award-winning album as well as chart-topping hits from throughout her career. On June 28th, the Hylton will welcome Toujours l’amour: French Masterpieces of Love to the Merchant Hall stage. Metropolitan Opera guests will perform French arias and duets from Georges Bizet’s Carmen, Charles Gournod’s Romeo et Juliette, and other works!
Lastly, you’ll want to travel to the Winery at La Grange to sample a delicious array of locally produced wines in their tasting room. Spend the afternoon outside enjoying a fresh glass of tantalizing red wine while you enjoy the beautiful scenery surrounding the home.
