Hey guys just an FYI from Hyatt regency Reston the 505 bus does not start till 0720 and metro trains start at 0700 on Saturdays. There is a 574 bus that leaves Reston town centre at 0600 0640 and 0720 that will get you to tysons west park transit station and you will need to walk down international drive about a mile to get to tysons tower. I understand this is a lot with your gear otherwise there is über and taxi services! Be safe and see you soon!

Rodney Vaughan Vander, Yes the posting Craig placed was one of the original downloads that displays the specs of the stair race building. It will be equivalent to 28 stories from the lowest parking garage level to the roof. 8 years ago

Hi All, I'm registered for the individual men 50+, men team 40+ and mixed team 40+. Though I'm registered for team competition I'm currently not part of any team. What do I need to do to get added to a combined team?

Hi folks. I'm registered for the heavyweight full gear stair race. I'm 39 years old but my registration confirmation says age bracket 18+. Anyone else experienced this or have I misunderstood something?

it will be great if it's possible, cause as you know in the evening we have the opening ceremony , so we don't need to go back to hotel again.

I´m Jose Antonio , From Madrid FD.
I just want to know if it´s possible after the meeting, and check the gear, let the gear there.
And another question in Europe we don´t have NFPA, we´ve got UNE, in the case of firefigthers we have UNE 439 for the gear,i imagine like in others games will be ok.

Irena I meant to ask the same thing. Our hotel is not so near and leaving my gear after the meeting would help me avoid carrying it back and forth to my hotel. 8 years ago

For the Firefighter full gear event can you use your personal NFPA certified gear does it have to be issued gear from your Fire Department?

Gear/Stuff

hi Brothers, regarding the stari Race competition I make my experience in 2011 and 2013 and I find out that many Athlets not wear the regular gear.For example - there were guys which not wear the regular boots. Boots without the steelbar and guys which cut there trousers. That´s not fair in compere to the firefighters which wear the regular stuff!!!For example one boot with the steelbar weights round about2,5 Pounds!!that means that athlets which wear boots WITHOUT the steelbar safe 5 Pounds...

I arrive on the 25th evening. Can the gear be inspected on the 26th ok prior to the opening ceremony and if so where is the inspection taking place.
Also can you just wear shorts and a t shirt under the fire kit

Hi Peter,  All good questions..., We are planning the gear inspection during the competitor meeting on June 26th.  This meeting is scheduled for 08:00 a.m. and it will be at the Mall area that is adjacent to the Stair Race Building and Hyatt Hotel.  This will give us plenty of time to discuss items concerning the race.  In conclusion of the meeting I have a walk through planned of the building and stair case so each competitor can see the stairs and understand the race process.  This will give each competitor plenty of time to get to opening ceremonies.  An advantage of the Stair Race is a short Metro Ride to Opening Ceremonies. Yes, on the shorts and t shirt under the fire kit.  I would personally recommend low resistance wear like "under amour" it would help with the resistance of the inner liner against your body.  The reason for the specific rule on gear is so it is compliant and similar in nature for equality among each competitor. So some competitors are not racing in a much lighter more maneuverable type gear.  In the next few weeks I will be sending out more information regarding the race and each of you will get a letter at registration that will detail specific venue info.
