Bull Run's spacious fields accommodate groups by the hundreds, even thousands, for picnics, or special events. Bull Run's scenic woodlands and trails offer miles of hiking and solitude. In springtime, acres of bluebells and other wildflowers bloom beside a picturesque, meandering stream. A large outdoor water park is open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. The campground and disc golf are open year round. A public shooting center, which includes sporting clays, skeet, trap, wobble trap and indoor archery, is also open year-round.

Fairfax County Criminal Justice Track & Range

The Fairfax County Criminal Justice Academy trains men and women for the Fairfax County Police Department, the Fairfax County sheriff's office and the Fairfax County fire marshal's office. Major Cindy A. McAlister is the director of the facility, and outside law enforcement agencies are able to take classes there as well. The facility consists of a 1.1 mile high speed track, four observation towers, 1.0 miles of secondary roads, an off road recovery area, and a 125' x 300' oval skid pan with an automatic water system. The facility also has an on site garage, a building which includes two classrooms, instructor office space, a kitchen and restrooms.

Lake Fairfax Park

For recreation and fun in western Fairfax, this 476 acre park includes a 20-acre lake with fishing, the Water Mine family Swimmin’ Hole, boat rentals, carousel, athletic fields, picnic shelters and picnic areas with grills, a playground, restrooms, campgrounds, trails and a skatepark. The Water Mine Family Swimmin’ Hole features tubing on the Rattlesnake Lazy River, a tot pool at Tenderfoot Pond, slides, tunnels, and interactive play features designed for young children. The Water Mine is open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Carousel and boat rentals are open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Visit Marina and Carousel for hours of operation details. The campground, picnic areas , playground, trails and skatepark are open year-round. Virginia State fishing license is required, and sailboats, gasoline and electric-powered boats and swimming are prohibited in the lake.

DC United Soccer

DC United is Washington DC's professional soccer team, based in Washington, D.C., which competes in Major League Soccer (MLS). It is one of the ten charter clubs of MLS, having competed in the league since its inception, in 1996.

D.C. United has won 13 international and domestic titles or honors over the club's history. D.C. United was one of the most successful clubs in the early years of MLS, winning 8 of its 13 titles between 1996 and 1998 under head coach Bruce Arena. United holds an MLS record for most MLS Cup and Supporters' Shields apiece, winning each honor four times, and has won the U.S. Open Cup three times. United was also the first club to win both the MLS Cup and MLS Supporters' Shield consecutively.

On the international stage, D.C. United has competed in both the CONCACAF Champions League and its predecessor, the CONCACAF Champions' Cup. The club participated in the 2005 and 2007 editions of the Copa Sudamericana. In 1998, the club won the CONCACAF Champions' Cup. Subsequently, United won the now-defunct Copa Interamericana, a CONCACAF-CONMEBOL super cup, in 1998 against Vasco da Gama of Brazil.

Centreville High School is a public high school southwestern Fairfax County, Virginia. Having opened in 1988 to serve the rapidly growing population of the Clifton/Centreville region, CVHS is the top of the Centreville High School Pyramid in Cluster VIII of the Fairfax County Public School (FCPS) system. In 2010 the school was ranked as the 4th best high school in Fairfax County, and the 18th best high school out of 172 schools rated in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. On a national level, in 2010 CVHS was ranked as the 130th best of all high schools in the United States. Centreville High School currently enrolls 2350 students in grades 9-12. Centreville High School is categorized as a AAA-class high school, as defined by the Virginia High School League. It belongs to the Concorde District of the Northern Region. Centreville has athletic teams in 28 different sports. Men's Sports include: Baseball, Basketball, Cross Country, Football, Golf, Ice Hockey (club), Indoor Track/Field, Lacrosse, Outdoor Track/Field, Soccer, Swim/Dive, Tennis and Wrestling. Oakton High School, Oakton, Virginia

Oakton High School was founded in 1967 in Vienna, Virginia. Like most Fairfax County schools, the building is of considerable size. It consisting of two stories to accommodate its over 2,350 students. The school is divided into separate hallways for individual subjects; English and History predominantly on the second floor, Math and Science residing on the first. In 2008, Newsweek ranked Oakton High School as the 103rd best high school in the country, based on a ratio of students taking AP (or IB) classes to the number of graduating seniors. In addition, Oakton was ranked 88th on the US News & World Report magazine's list based on an assessment of college readiness in 2007. Oakton is a member of the AAA Concorde District and the Northern Region of the Virginia High School League. Its cross country, football, baseball, lacrosse, and men's swimming teams have all claimed recent Virginia state titles.
