Pohick Bay Regional Park

Pohick Bay is a water oriented park located on the Potomac River 25 miles south of the nation's capital. Our boat launch facility is one of only 3 public access points to the Potomac River in northern Virginia and the closest to Washington DC and its famous waterfront. Pohick Bay offers canoes, kayaks, paddle boats and jon boats for rent on the weekends.

In addition to water activities the park also offers family and group camping, hiking, picnic areas and a large play area for children. For those of you interested in swimming, we offer one of the largest, outdoor freeform pools on the east coast! Please contact the park about swim lessons for your family.

Pohick Bay Regional Park, located on Mason Neck Pennisula is an ecologically fragile land that shelters an abundance of wildlife, including the bald eagle. Nature lovers can expect to see blue birds, osprey, heron, deer, beavers and rare sightings of river otters.

Archery (3D and Field)

Fountainhead Regional Park

Fountainhead is situated in Fairfax Station, where visitors will quickly discover the spectacular view of the widest point of the Occoquan Reservoir. Perfect for fishing or simply relaxing on the calm waters, Fountainhead’s water access allows for private boat launching as well as canoe, kayak and jon boat rentals. Fountainhead also offers a handicap accessible fishing pier. On land, the park also boasts one of the most challenging mountain bike trails in the region, which  features a stacked loop system, with a beginner level loop that newer and younger riders can stay on, or riders can continue on the connecting intermediate loop, and then on to an advanced loop.   The course includes the beginner and intermediate loops and boardwalk, trail bridges and technical trail features to create a challenging and exciting ride for cyclists of all abilities. The park also serves as one of the major access points for the Bull Run Occoquan Trail.

Bull Run Regional Park

Bull Run's spacious fields accommodate groups by the hundreds, even thousands, for picnics, or special events. Bull Run's scenic woodlands and trails offer miles of hiking and solitude. In springtime, acres of bluebells and other wildflowers bloom beside a picturesque, meandering stream. A large outdoor water park is open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. The campground and disc golf are open year round. A public shooting center, which includes sporting clays, skeet, trap, wobble trap and indoor archery, is also open year-round.

Northern Virginia Badminton Club (NVBC) was founded by a group of badminton players with a passion for the game and a vision to grow the sport in Ashburn, VA and its surrounding areas. Our main goal is to provide a fully dedicated and a one-stop badminton facility for fellow badminton players. We are situated in a high-ceiling (greater than 30') facility housing 9 badminton courts with Olympic-level mats optimized for playing. We offer something for everyone in the family: coaching for children, seniors and adults; conditioning classes; summer camps; merchandise sales and many other amenities. Baseball - Spuhler Field

GMU Sulfur Field, Fairfax, Virginia

OlympicsIn 2002, Spuhler Field was recognized as the Baseball Field of the Year in the College/University Division by the Sports Turf Managers Association. Spuhler Field was recognized for a commitment to excellence in overall field quality, safety, playability and appearance. In 2000-01, the facility was ranked second in the nation in the Beam Clay College Baseball Diamond of the Year Awards after being ranked third in 1999-2000. Spuhler Field has a Bermuda turf surface consisting of a soil base (90 percent sand/10 percent Swag Peat top soil mix) and a Tufcote Bermuda prescription grass sod. Spuhler Field boasts permanent grandstand seating for 900 spectators, an enclosed press box with a public address system, and an electronic scoreboard. The field itself also includes an underground sprinkler system, dugouts, enclosed bullpens for both teams, and a batting cage located outside the fence in the left field corner. The dimensions are 320 feet down each line, 375 feet to the power alleys, and 400 feet to center field.

Basketball 3x3

GMU Field House, Fairfax, Virginia

The Field House contains an indoor track, locker rooms, basketball courts and an indoor multi-purpose practice facility used by the baseball, softball, lacrosse and soccer teams. Home of the indoor men's and women's track and field teams, it has served as host to the Mobil Invitational and the USA Track and Field Golden Spike Invitational Indoor Meet. Many of the Mason athletic department offices are located within the Field House as well.

Basketball 5x5

GMU RAC Gym, Fairfax, Virginia

The 120,000-square foot Recreation Athletic Complex (formerly the PE Building) boasts three gymnasiums, two racquetball courts, two squash courts, and a two story fitness gallery that spans over 15,000 square feet. The facility is home to the Patriots volleyball and wrestling teams, along with intramural and club sports, ROTC, as well as classroom and offices for the School of Recreation, Health and Tourism. Inside, the Patriot teams will compete in the new "RAC Gym," with seating for 1,550 and featuring a state of the art sound system and a second story viewing area. The existing John Linn Memorial Gymnasium was renovated for student use, and there is an additional gymnasium located on the second level. Adjacent to the fitness and strength areas is a juice bar and lounge.

The Herndon Community Center is an award-winning fitness and recreation facility located within Bready Park in the Town of Herndon.  Adjacent to the W&OD Trail, the Herndon Community Center is the perfect place to exercise, swim, play tennis, play basketball, play racquetball or take a class.  The building is open from early morning to late evening most days.  Our facility has everything a person would need to include fitness and recreation in their schedule.

GMU Concert Hall, Fairfax, Virginia

OlympicsThe Center for the Arts Concert Hall is designed as an adaptable venue, able to serve many types of events from conferences, to orchestral concerts, to large scale productions, and features an expansive glass-walled lobby suitable for formal and informal receptions, dinners, and presentations. Harris Theater is a modified proscenium/thrust theatre and is ideal for smaller-scaled concerts, recitals, lectures, and theatrical events. The Center for the Arts Concert Hall, opened in 1990 is a technically adaptable venue. Each year it houses operas, symphony orchestras, theatre productions, dance performances, cultural shows, and a much more.
