This is a compilation of video memories of B.C. Corrections staff who competed at the 2009 World Police and Fire Games (WPFG) in Vancouver, British Columbia.
The WPFG event is held every two years. The 2009 games from July 31 to August 9 provided 10 days of sport that inspired camaraderie, community and competition. B.C. Corrections athletes were joined by other peace officers, firefighters, police officers, and customs staff from 56 countries.
The 2009 World Police and Fire Games was an impressive international sporting event that featured 10,577 athletes competing in over 60 sports at more than 50 venues across the Lower Mainland and Sea to Sky regions of British Columbia. In terms of registered athletes, this was the largest event in the games' 26-year history. By way of comparison, the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games hosted 86 sport events for 2,566 athletes from 82 participating countries.
New York will host the 2011 WPFG. In 2013, the games will be held in Belfast.
